We here at The Rainbow Project would like to welcome Joshua Behn, from Weber State University, Utah, to our team for four months as part of an international internship.
Joshua will be interning with us here at The Rainbow Project. Originally from Boston, Joshua studies History, Political Science and Social Work at University. As part of his Thesis Project Joshua is studying identity formation in Sexual Minorities living in environments of sectarian conflict, and will be collecting the oral histories of gay men in Northern Ireland who came of age during ‘the troubles’.
Joshua has served on the Executive Committee of Affirmation: Gay & Lesbian Mormons and as a volunteer at Utah AIDS Foundation. In addition to his activism, Joshua has been a stage actor with several community theatre groups and is a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quaker Society). Other passions include Russian literature, History, Gourmet Cooking and travelling. He has a strong interested in comparative theology, stemming from his work as a funeral director/embalmer.
Joshua will be working on numerous projects during his time at The Rainbow Project. He will be helping us provide vital Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity training across Northern Ireland, Sexual Health services, Project support and also helping us to catalogue and digitise our archive materials as part of a cooperative History project with some our sector partners and Northern Ireland Gay Rights Association which will be producing a public LGBT archive for Northern Ireland.
