Sinead McGarry

I recruit, train, support and develop the volunteers for our Macmillan Cancer Support / Rainbow Project NI Cancer Champions Project.

I have a background in Biomedical Sciences, Health and Social Care, Music Education & the Arts, I previously worked as Regional Health and Wellbeing officer in several rural council areas. I am extremely passionate about creating more LGBTQIA+ inclusivity in healthcare especially cancer care, support and screening. I’m also an advocate of rural LGBTQIA+ people, and of Older LGBTQIA+ elders who paved the way for us, whether they live in their own homes or in residential care. Cancer Champions Screening for all You Tube series of videos is the one of the pieces of work I’m proudest of.

Outside of my role I’m a professional lyricist, singer, multi-instrument musician, filmmaker, media creator and freelance song writing mentor. My free time is spent walking in nature, practising filming and photography, watching high art cinema (Mubi is my tip!), History & Genealogy, and reading – I usually have several books on the go!
