Northern Ireland’s gender affirming healthcare services have been in disarray over the past decade, having collapsed in 2018 and receiving negligible investment since. Even when operating, those services had poor outcomes for trans patients, with many reporting that treatment within the service was stigmatising, invasive and sometimes traumatising.
To inform our campaigns, and the development of new services, we’re holding engagement sessions for trans people and their families, exploring what best practice care looks like and how to ensure trans healthcare services work for trans people.
