You don’t owe sex to anyone – if you haven’t consented then it’s not ok.

There are many ways you may experience discrimination that you perceive is directed at you because of your sexual orientation or gender identity.

What is homophobic bullying? Homophobic bullying is behaviour or language which makes a young person feel unwelcome or marginalised because of their actual or perceived sexual orientation.

Threats, violence, verbal abuse, intimidation, vandalism and damage, sexual assault and/or coercion are all ways you can be affected by homophobia/ transphobia/ biphobia, hate and discrimination whether it is coming from members of the public or your own family.

If you are gay, lesbian or transgender you may feel more vulnerable or afraid about disclosing abusive behaviour in your relationship because you will be worried about being taken seriously.
