LGBTQIA+ Affirmative Therapy

Our LGBTQIA+ Affirmative Therapy Training aims to:

  • Educate on the lived experience and mental health of LGBTQIA+ individuals, relationships and families in Northern Ireland.
  • Challenge and enlighten mental health professionals in Northern Ireland through discussion and presentation of the very well researched and generally accepted concepts of internalised homophobia, biphobia and transphobia, the process of coming out with a sexually diverse identity and living with an LGBTQIA+ identity.
  • Challenge misconceptions and educate so that professionals working therapeutically with LGBTQIA+ clients can offer the best possible service.

This training is particularly useful to counsellors and therapists of all backgrounds.
This training can also benefit Psychologists, Psychiatrists, GP’S and educators who also may work in a 1 to 1 format.

Our training can be delivered:

  • Online via Microsoft Teams.
  • In person at your venue.
  • In person at our premises at our centres in Belfast or Derry/Londonderry. (Restrictions may apply)
  • In person at a 3rd party venue you can access.

We can offer tailored sessions to meet any additional needs or focuses you may have however this may impact cost and length of the session. We can also offer reduced length sessions however for the best and full experience we recommend the 3-hour session.

On occasion we may be able to offer funded training sessions to qualifying organisations in the health sector or community/voluntary sector.
