There’s a Bishop in my Bedroom – Part of the Outburst Queer Arts Festival 2017

There’s a Bishop in my Bedroom is a hugely entertaining new one-man show about love and equal marriage. Written and performed by Richard O’Leary it follows his early years as a would-be priest in Cork, to sourcing illegal condoms in Dublin, through to coming out in 1988 as a gay man in Belfast. He falls in love with a Protestant minister who would become his life-long partner.

This show has emerged from Outburst’s New Queer Writing workshops with Tinderbox Theatre Company and is directed by Tinderbox’s Patrick J O’Reilly

Richard O’Leary has swapped the university lecture hall for the theatre stage. The former lecturer in sociology of religion and family at Queen’s University Belfast is a playwright and performer storyteller. He regularly delights audiences with his autobiographical stories at Belfast’s TenX9 at the Black Box.

MAC theatre Belfast, Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th November
