LGBTQIA+ Death Cafe's

Cancer Champions and The All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative care collaborated on three new Death Cafe’s for the LGBTQIA+ community between Jan-March, held in Belfast, Derry/Londonderry and Enniskillen.
Because we can see these are valuable community spaces based on your feedback, we are delighted to be hosting three more spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Join us to come together over coffee and cake and talk about death, dying, bereavement and all the big stuff.
Coming up:
Derry/Londonderry: 10th April 2026, 6-8pm. Waterloo House, Magazine Street Derry/Londonderry, BT44 6HH
Belfast: TBA
For details of all our upcoming events, see our Events Page.
Through attendance at the recent Death Cafe...i have been able to speak openly about the cancer diagnosis and palliative care of a loved one. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community the opportunity to speak of pre-bereavement and loss is not a common experience and I have welcomed the chance to be heard and understood in a warm and welcoming environment.

The facilitation was so gentle but kept us present with such a difficult topic. It felt very inclusive and really helped me process grief and feel less alone with it. Every event I've attended has been so beautifully organised and thought through in terms of really minding people and being trauma informed. I really appreciate the attention to detail and the care, compassion and space that is held. Thank you again for another really powerful, affirming and surprisingly uplifting experience. I was shocked to come away feeling refreshed from a death cafe, but it really is a space where worries, concerns and the weight of living with cancer and death are shared and set down. Thank you.
