Simon Carmichael

My role as Co-Cultural Counselling manager is to oversee the The Rainbow Project’s Co-cultural Counselling Team.

We provide counselling to members of the LGBTQIA+ community in Northern Ireland through a co-cultural model of working with counsellors who are themselves members of the community, ensuring clients feel accepted, understood, and safe to face their issues in an affirmative environment.

I came to The Rainbow Project with an academic background in psychology and a professional background of trade union activism and workplace mental health. Like all our counsellors, I wanted to bring my professional and lived experience together to make counselling more accessible for people like myself.

Outside of work I’m an avid gamer and an eternal student.
