Research has found that substance abuse is up to 3 times more likely in the LGBT community of Northern Ireland.
I am well known amongst my friends for being a bit of a party animal, so giving up alcohol for the whole month of October seems fitting to raise money for a charity like the Rainbow Project, who work with LGBT people with Substance abuse issues, along with helping the LGBT community here in many other areas.
I attend quite a few events arranged by the Rainbow Project during the year, and having close friends that work for them, know very well the amount of hard work that they put in to ensuring the LGBT community have as much assistance as they can provide, and as a charity, they depend on donations to survive. Please help us to keep such an important service going 🙂
